3D Printed Houses Become Home for Poor Families

The first officially licensed 3D printing house was built last year in Austin, Texas. That house is forgotten as a strange example of the wonderful things technology  can do. Well, if a home adds whatever feature besides being made using 3D printing technique, it can become more interesting?

New Story, ICON and Échale have been raising money to finance the construction of homes for low-income families in Latin America for some time. Now, with the help gathered and the support of companies, the world's first neighborhood of houses created using 3D printing technique is being built in Mexico.

The first two houses of the neighborhood have already been completed. Houses created using 3D printing technique have two bedrooms, a living room, a kitchen and a  bathroom. It was designed considering the feedback of low-income families who will live in it. The houses are designed both to meet the specific needs of the community and to be passed on to the next generations. In the project, which was set out with the aim of using houses for generations, the houses were built on solid foundations and designed by considering standard security requirements. Let's take a look at the houses in this neighborhood, which are one of a kind.

New Story, ICON and Échale publicly announced plans to 3D print the entire neighborhood in May. In a statement by Alexandria Lafci, founder of New Story, to Fast Company; Many families who want to move to the neighborhood say they have never used indoor plumbing before, and now these families will have a chance to live in better conditions in 3D-printed homes.

3D printed houses were created in just 24 hours. Families who will move into homes earn less than $ 80 a month, and most currently live in simple huts that are not adequately protected.

The project, which started with an exemplary vision, has now come to life. We hope that this unique project consisting of 50 houses in Mexico, which is on the agenda  in local and global news sources, will inspire others.
